Students exchange

How to study and travel abroad ?!?!

Undergraduate and graduate degrees of the Bologna education system are designed to allow the selection of optional modules. As a result, as early as the third year of study, students may consult their advisor or head of the study program and choose modules offered by the Faculty of Agriculture or they can choose modules from other faculties in Croatia or abroad. Based on the elective modules, students can create their own educational profile depending on their skills and planned future occupation. Selecting the modules from other European universities provides the students with the opportunity to acquire highly specialized knowledge in specific areas, but also significantly improves the quality of the study program.

At the second year of study, i.e., III semester of graduate studies, students can choose five elective modules. After consultation with the supervisor or program leader, students can spend a whole semester at the other faculties in Croatia or abroad. From the academic year 2010/2011 Croatia became a full member of the Erasmus academic mobility programs intended for higher education, which means that the students from Croatian universities can visit Universities within the Erasmus university network, and vice versa i.e. foreign students can visit Croatian universities. Within the Erasmus program, students Snježana Barić, Biljana Krstin, Ines Rica, Barbara Gongeta, Andrea Pastva, Željka Klir and Ivana Živković from the Faculty of Agriculture, of the graduate study program Special zootechnique, visited the University of Kaposvar from 01.02.2010 till 18.06.2010. More details regarding the student exchange through the Erasmus Program can be found at the websites of Agency for Science and Higher Education Agency for Science and Higher Education and Osijek University.

Apart from the Erasmus mobility program, Croatia is a member of CEEPUS Network (Central European Exchange Programme for University Studies). This program of academic exchange for students and professors started with signing the multilateral agreement between Central and Eastern Europe European Universities in the field of education and training during the Exchange Program meeting concluded in Budapest on 8th December 1993. Currently, the effective agreement is CEEPUS II, which was signed in Zagreb on 4 March 2003. Contracting states are: Albania, Austria, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Kosovo, Macedonia, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Serbia. Within this program, graduate students (study programme Special zootechnique) Marijeta Dežo, Kristina Budimir and Elena Čosić attended the summer school on "Fisheries and Aquaculture" held at the Szent Istvan University in Gödöllő, Hungary, from 26.07. till 04.08.2010.

For all the necessary information about the student mobility and exchange programmes contact the Erasmus coordinators Prof. Dr. Sonja Marić and Boris Lukić, M.sc.

During the study you can also visit another mobility program, IAESTE (The International Association for Exchange of Students for Technical Experience), the world's largest organization for student exchange. The aim of this association is to provide the professional and practical experience abroad with the main objective to train students through the development and application of projects and modern technologic facilities of reputable foreign companies, universities and research institutes. IAESTE emphasizes the promotion of international understanding and goodwill among students of all nationalities no matter the race, color, sex or religion. Also, this exchange system enables Croatian companies to employ highly qualified and motivated foreign students, because the IAESTE exchange program functions on the principle of reciprocity, i.e. 1:1 number of incoming students and the number of outgoing students.
